Japan urges North Korea not to launch missile

Japan on Monday urged North Korea to immediately stop all preparation for a possible long-range missile test and pledged "stern measures" if a launch goes ahead. Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said that both Japan and the United States had warned North Korea against such a test, but that Tokyo had not received any response from Pyongyang. "Japan and the United States share the understanding that the North Korean missile, if launched, would be a threat to regional security," Abe told reporters.
