Man charged in UK with preparing terrorist attack

A 38-year-old man has been charged with preparing a terrorist attack, police said Sunday. The unidentified man from Birmingham was charged on Saturday night with one offense under Section 5 of Britain's Terrorism Act 2006. He was to appear in a London court on Monday, police said. The charge "relates to the alleged engagement in conduct for the preparation of an intention to commit an act of terrorism," police said. No one else is being sought in connection with the alleged crime, which police described as a real threat of terrorism. No other information was available about the defendant or exactly what he was accused of doing.
