Mexico helicopter crash kills 8, including government official

A helicopter carrying volunteers on a mission to distribute toys to needy children crashed in central Mexico on Friday, killing eight people, including a government official. A Puebla state government employee in charge of citizen outreach, the wife of a top government official and six others died in the crash in a rural, mountainous part of the state, said Javier Sanchez, a state government spokesman. The volunteers had traveled to the impoverished area near Tepango de Rodriguez to give toys to children, Sanchez said at a news conference. Officials did not yet have information on what caused the crash. Two pilots were among the dead.
