Military helicopter crashes in Pakistan, killing 8 army officers

A Pakistani military helicopter crashed Wednesday in northwestern Pakistan, killing a major general and seven other military officers, an intelligence official said. The cause of the crash, which occurred in South Waziristan, was unknown, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information. All the dead were Pakistanis and included Maj. Gen. Javed Sultan, a top regional military commander, the official said.
