Moderate earthquake shakes Sumatra, Indonesia

A moderate earthquake shook northern Sumatra in Indonesia early Saturday, the Hong Kong Observatory said. The quake struck at 12:21 a.m. and had a preliminary magnitude of 5.0, it said. It was centered off the west coast of northern Sumatra about 310 kilometers southwest of Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh province, the observatory said. No other information was immediately available.
