Moderate quake hits off northwestern Japan coast

A moderate earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 struck off northwestern Japan early Monday, but there was no danger of tsunami, Japan's Meteorological Agency said. The quake occurred off the northwestern coast in the Sea of Japan at 7:28 a.m. Monday about 380 kilometers below the seabed, the agency said. No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
