Government and military officials on Monday played down the coup speculation as unfounded rumors and all appeared normal on the streets of the capital, Islamabad. Pakistan's Daily Times newspaper reported in a front page article that Musharraf's hospital visit and the power outage "combined to spark rumors of a military coup." In New York, Musharraf dismissed the coup rumors as "nonsense in nonsense in nonsense."
