The chief of North Korea's atomic energy said Friday that his country will invite UN nuclear inspectors and shut down its reactor after it confirms the release of funds frozen in a banking dispute.
Ri Je Son, the agency's head, sent a message to the International Atomic Energy Agency stating the country's position, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.
"As soon as we confirm these funds are released, we are prepared to invite the IAEA delegation and halt the operation of the Yongbyon facility and discuss verification procedures," Ri said, according to KCNA.
