New Zealand condemns UN hit in south Lebanon

New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark on Wednesday condemned Israeli and Hizbullah attacks that have struck UN posts in Lebanon, killing four peacekeepers, and demanded an immediate cease-fire by both sides. "There should be an immediate cease-fire, but in the absence of that, we call on both sides to cease attacks ... on UN posts and personnel." New Zealand has three troops working as UN observers in southern Lebanon, two of them posted to the unit where four members were killed, she noted. The two were not at the post at the time of the attack.
