US president's Kenyan grandmother sends message on pilgrimage to Mecca but refuses to discuss grandson's politics, report says.

US President Barack Obama's Kenyan grandmother prayed on a pilgrimage to Mecca that her grandson convert to Islam, according to reports by Al-Qatan.
Sarah Omar, 88,  told the Saudi daily "I prayed for my grandson Barack to convert to Islam".

The report suggested that Ms Omar was in Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage along with her son, Mr Obama's uncle Saeed Hussein Obama, and four of her grandchildren.
She told the newspaper, however, that she could only discuss hajj matters and would not comment on Obama's politics.
Ever since he launched his White House campaign, Obama has been dogged by speculation over his religion.
US opinion polls in August found that as many as one in four Americans believe that the US president is a Muslim.
