One dead, 35 injured in France as train collides with truck

A French high-speed train slammed into a truck in eastern France on Wednesday, killing the truck driver and slightly injuring 35 others, local officials said. The truck was stopped on the rails at a level crossing near the town of Tossiat, in the Ain region of eastern France, when it was hit by high-speed TGV train, heading from Paris to Geneva, Switzerland, the regional prefecture said. It was not immediately clear why the truck, which was carrying a machine used to make asphalt, was stopped on the rails. The barriers at the level crossing were not damaged, and the truck apparently did not break through them.
