Suspected Islamic militants detonated a bomb close to a military convoy in a restive tribal region of Pakistan on Thursday, killing two soldiers and wounding four others, a military spokesman said.
Assailants detonated the device as the convoy traveled through the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, a remote region bordering Afghanistan where US and other officials fear al-Qaida and Taliban militants are regrouping.
Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad said six suspected militants had been arrested after the attack.
In neighboring South Waziristan, militants attacked a military convoy, drawing fire from security forces, Arshad said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
