Indian officials detained a Pakistani passenger for questioning Tuesday after explosions triggered a fire on a train from India to Pakistan that killed 67 people.
"He was found in a drunken state and he's being questioned. But his account has been inconsistent and we have no definite conclusions yet," said Bharti Arora, a senior Haryana state railway police official. She declined to provide further details.
The death toll from the train blasts rose Tuesday to 67 people, Arora said, after doctors conducting the post-mortem exams realized that what they thought was one corpse was actually two badly burned bodies fused together.
The passengers were traveling from New Delhi to Atari, the last railroad station before the Pakistan border. At Atari, passengers switch to a Pakistani train that takes them to Lahore, Pakistan.
