A top Pakistani opposition lawmaker announced his decision Saturday to quit Parliament to protest an army raid on a mosque in the capital that left more than 100 people dead.
Tensions have been high in Pakistan since Wednesday when the military launched an assault on Islamabad's Lal Masjid or Red Mosque after its cleric and his armed associates refused to allow an unspecified woman, children and students to come out.
The ensuing gunbattle- which ended the eight-day seige- also left 10 soldiers dead.
