Suspected Islamic militants fired rockets and assault rifles at a military post in northwestern Pakistan prompting a clash early Sunday that left three attackers and one soldier dead, intelligence officials said.
Paramilitary and army troops returned artillery fire in the pre-dawn attack on the post near the village of Nari Dogg in North Waziristan, a tribal region near the Afghan border where local and foreign militants are believed to operate, the official said.
