Former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif was arrested on corruption charges Monday soon after his return from exile, officials said. Sharif did not resist as police officers led him from the VIP lounge at Islamabad airport, an Associated Press reporter at the scene said. Earlier, a senior investigator from Pakistan's anti-corruption body served him a warrant related to money-laundering charges stemming from a sugar mill business several years ago. Sharif plans to lead a campaign against President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who ousted him eight years ago.
