Philippines arrest mastermind of ferry bombing

A Philippine anti-terrorism official says police have arrested one of the alleged masterminds of a ferry bombing that killed 116 people four years ago. Chairman of the Anti-Terrorism Council Eduardo Ermita says the suspect was deported Saturday to Manila from Bahrain where he was arrested last month. Justice Undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor says the man was arrested after he applied for a job at the Philippine embassy in Bahrain. Blancaflor says Ruben Pestano Lavilla Jr. is "the brains" of the Rajah Solaiman Movement, a group of Islamic converts allied with the al-Qaida-linked regional terror network Jemaah Islamiyah and the Abu Sayyaf.
