Police use batons to quell pro-Tibet rally in Australia

Media are reporting that police used batons and capsicum spray to quell a violent Tibet independence protest outside the Chinese Consulate in Sydney, Australia's largest city. Australian Associated Press reported that the protest by dozens of demonstrators Saturday came in response to the largest and most violent protests in Tibet against Chinese rule in nearly two decades. The demonstrations in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, reportedly left at least 10 people dead Friday.
