Polish President Lech Kaczynski was leaving Sunday on a four-day trip to Israel for talks on the current tension in the Middle East, an official said.
Kaczynski planned to meet with Israeli counterpart Moshe Katsav and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The meetings would focus on strengthening Israeli-Polish ties, as well as the tense situation in the region after fighting between Israel and Hizbullah in southern Lebanon, presidential aide Andrzej Krawczyk said.
Warsaw, which has some 215 soldiers in Lebanon as part of the UNIFIL stabilization force, has pledged to send another 300 troops to the new international peacekeeping effort.
