Pope expresses hope that Dublin conference will ban cluster bomb

Pope Benedict XVI has expressed hope that a Dublin conference will ban cluster bombs.
The pope called Sunday for an international treaty that would be both strong and credible.
Diplomats from up to 100 countries will be seeking to outlaw the munitions blamed for indiscriminately killing and maiming civilians in conflict zones. The goal is an historic treaty banning cluster bombs.
Major military powers like the US and China are not attending.
