Property CFO: I was fired for not being Israeli

The former chief financial officer for the real estate developer that bought and is renovating The Plaza Hotel has filed a lawsuit claiming he was fired because he is not a citizen of Israel. John J. Bove, an American, said in court papers that despite years of glowing work reviews and pay increases as the CFO of Elad Properties NY LLC, he was fired in October 2006, a discharge that at first seemed "inexplicable." "In truth, Mr. Bove's firing was nothing less than an Elad effort to replace its US executives with Israelis," said his court papers, which were filed Tuesday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court. "Defendant terminated plaintiff because he is not Israeli." Elad Properties is the American branch of Elad Hotels Ltd., an Israeli hotel and development group.
