Report: Kim Jong Il makes a rare trip to China

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has traveled to China on a rare trip outside his country, a South Korean military intelligence official said Tuesday. The official, who told The Associated Press that the information came from intelligence sources inside China, said Kim entered that country sometime Tuesday. The official spoke on condition his name not be used because of the sensitivity of the information. "We confirmed he went to China by train," the official said. "We don't know why." The only rail connection between the two countries is via the Chinese city of Dandong in Liaoning province.
