Russian ambassador asks for meeting with NATO

The Russian ambassador to NATO says Russia is asking for a high-level meeting with the alliance to discuss the fighting in Georgia. Ambassador Dmitry Rogozin says Moscow wants to explain its actions in Georgia to the Western alliance. Rogozin says that "before NATO makes any decisions it needs to consult with Russia" on the hostilities in Georgia. He told reporters on Monday that Moscow has asked for a special meeting of the Russia NATO council, a consultative panel. On Tuesday the NATO ambassadors will meet with Georgia's foreign minister, Ekaterina Tkeshelashvili.
