w3The Saudi Arabian Interior Ministry says 11 members of al-Qaida who were planning kidnappings, armed robberies and attacks on security forces have been arrested. The statement Tuesday said members of the group - all Saudis - have links with al-Qaida abroad and were operating from a hide-out south of the kingdom. They had stockpiled arms, ammunition, food, cameras and other equipment at the hideout. Saudi state television aired some of the seized weapons including automatic machine-guns, explosive belts and ammunition. The statement did not say if the detainees were among the list of 85 suspects wanted by police that was publicized earlier this year. It said an investigation was under way.
