Slovak Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda conceded Sunday defeat in the country's parliamentary elections to Robert Fico's opposition Smer-Socialist Democratic Party.
Dzurinda said that although Fico "has won (the vote), the reforms should continue," referring to eight years of austere economic reforms. Fico's leftist party tapped widespread public discontent over the reforms, but its victory threw into doubt Slovakia's quest to adopt the euro currency in 2009.
