Some 60 dead in ferry accident in Arabian Sea

At least 60 people died Friday when their overloaded ferry capsized in the Arabian Sea off southern Pakistan, a Pakistani navy spokesman said. Several survivors succeeded in swimming to the shore and notifying authorities of the accident. The ferry was thought to have held some 80 passengers, with only some 60 bodies and a handful of survivors located. The accident occurred near the remote coastal town of Kharo Chao, about 180 kilometers (110 miles) southeast of the port of Karachi, navy Lt.-Cmdr. Salman Ali said. "Divers from the Pakistan navy are looking for the bodies, but so far we only know that about 60 people have drowned," he said.
