Spanish FM urges more attention to Muslim world

Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said Monday that the European Union needs to take the Muslim world more seriously following the uproar over the Prophet Muhammad cartoons, which he called one of the worst crises the bloc has faced. "The cartoon crisis has shown that we have to pay more attention to that part of the world," Moratinos told reporters during a visit to Denmark, where the cartoons were first published. The 12 drawings, which were reprinted in several European countries, triggered an international crisis earlier this year, with angry mobs attacking Western embassies in Muslim countries, including Lebanon, Iran and Indonesia.
