Sri Lankan army fires at suspicious planes

Sri Lankan troops fired anti-aircraft guns and blacked out the country's only international airport, an adjoining air force base and the whole of the capital, Colombo, on Sunday after receiving information that at least two suspicious aircraft were detected in the sky, an official said. Booms and flashes of anti-aircraft guns were heard around the capital, Colombo, while most of the town was awake watching the cricket World Cup final between Sri Lanka and Australia. All passengers aboard planes were called back into the terminals and air traffic was suspended, an employee of the international airport said, speaking on condition on anonymity.
