Suicide attack kills at least 6 police in Pakistan

A suicide bomber used a car laden with explosives to attack a police station in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least six officers, police said Saturday. Local police official Mohib Ullahn said several policemen also were wounded in the attack in Swat, where militants have been fighting troops to pressure the Pakistan government for the enforcement of Taliban-style Islamic laws. A Taliban spokesman, Muslim Khan, immediately claimed responsibility and vowed more attacks if the government did not halt army operations in the area, which used to be a popular tourist destination.
