Suicide car bombs kill NATO soldier, Afghan child

Suicide bombers crashed cars filled with explosives into NATO peacekeeping vehicles in two attacks in the Afghan capital, killing at least one German soldier, an Afghan child and wounding 14 other people, officials said. Troops thwarted a suspected third bombing Monday by fatally shooting three people in a car racing toward the scene of the initial blasts. Such seemingly coordinated assaults are unprecedented in Afghanistan and were the first major attack on foreign troops in Kabul in a year.
