The Tamil Tiger rebels fired mortars at a Sri Lankan military post in the north Tuesday, killing one soldier and wounding two others, the Defense Ministry said.
The military fired back, but it was not immediately known if the insurgents suffered any casualties in the violence at Omanthai, on the frontier between government and rebel-held areas, military spokesman Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe said.
