Underwater quake rocks buildings in Tokyo

A moderate underwater earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 struck near the Tokyo region early Thursday, the Meteorological Agency said. There was no danger of a tsunami, the agency said. The quake, which swayed buildings in Tokyo for about 20 seconds, struck off the coast of neighboring Chiba state (prefecture) at around 4:15 a.m., according to the agency. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
