Unexploded bomb dropped by US Army in World War II unearthed in France

An unexploded 250-kilogram bomb dropped by the U.S. Army during World War II has been unearthed during construction work in a village near the eastern French city of Strasbourg, officials said Friday. The bomb, measuring 1.2 meters long and 35 centimeters in diameter, had been buried in the ground since the war, said police in the village of Niederroedern. A large area had to be evacuated while experts defused the bomb Thursday, police said.
