US acts against Hizbullah-owned Lebanese company

The Treasury Department acted Tuesday to freeze all assets under US jurisdiction owned by Jihad al-Bina, a Lebanese construction company it said is owned and operated by Hizbullah. Stuart Levey, the undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement that Hizbullah uses the company for its construction needs "as well as to attract popular support through the provision of civilian construction needs and construction services." "We will take action against all facets of this deadly terror group [Hizbullah]," he said. The US State Department lists Hizbullah, a Shi'ite group supported mainly by Iran, on its directory of "International Terrorist Organizations."
