US military: 12 insurgents killed in clash in eastern Afghanistan

A dozen insurgents were killed during a clash in eastern Afghanistan, said the US military Monday.
The fighting erupted after coordinated militant attacks on five US and Afghan military outposts.
The military said another 12 insurgents were wounded. No US or Afghan soldiers were hurt.
The clash took place in Korengal Valley in the eastern Kunar province on Sunday.
