US soldier killed by roadside bomb in Iraq

The US military says an American soldier has been killed by roadside bomb southwest of Baghdad. The military says in a statement that the soldier died on Thursday in the attack 20 kilometers southwest of the capital. The statement gives no further details and says the name of the soldier is being withheld until family is notified. The death brings to at least 4,081 the number of members of the US military who have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
