Explosions ripped through fireworks stalls at an outdoor market Saturday in the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo, killing at least four people and reportedly injuring about 20 others.
The blasts erupted in a market filled with fireworks stalls and tore through dozens of stands, Maracaibo Mayor Gian Carlo Di Martino told reporters. He said at least four people were killed, including one boy, whose age was not given.
Some 20 people were injured by the blasts, according to the Venezuelan television station Globovision. Many were hospitalized with burns, some of them severe.
The stocks of fireworks continued to explode, though firefighters eventually extinguished the blaze, Globovision reported.
