Would-be Cologne train bomber identified as Syrian

A third suspect detained over a failed attack on two German trains is a Syrian national who researched plans for the bombings on the Internet, prosecutors said Saturday. Federal prosecutors identified the man, who was detained by police in the southern city of Koblenz on Friday, as Fadi A.S. They said a federal judge granted a formal arrest warrant for the 23-year-old. German and Lebanese authorities are also holding two young Lebanese men accused of carrying the suitcase bombs onto trains in Cologne station on July 31.
