Czechs say US report on Iran not to influence missile defense talks

A new US intelligence report on Iran will not influence the Czech position in talks with Washington on plans to place a missile defense base in the Czech Republic, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
"The report deals with a nuclear program, not with a program to develop missiles," the ministry said in a statement.
"That program goes on," it said, citing Iran's claims from last month that it manufactured a new missile - the Ashoura - with a range of 2,000 kilometers that was capable of reaching Israel and US bases across the Middle East.
The report released Monday concluded Iran had halted nuclear weapons development in 2003 in response to international pressure.
It "will have no influence on the position of the Czech Republic in further negotiations with the US side about a possible placing a radar base on Czech territory," the ministry said.
It also said that international pressure on Iran should continue.
