Iran's missile test proves Teheran is a threat, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Wednesday, countering Russia's argument against the need for a missile defense system in Europe.
Gates says the United States had been arguing for some time that there was a real threat Iran could develop long-range missiles to use against Europe.
He said Tehran's launch of several missiles earlier Wednesday underscored that argument.
