Iran allows lawyer to meet imprisoned union leader

Iran allowed a jailed union leader to meet with his lawyer for the first time on Tuesday, more than one month after his arrest on security charges, the attorney said. Lawyer Yousef Mowlai said he visited Osanlou in Teheran's Evin prison, notorious for the harsh conditions under which it holds political prisoners. He said he had not been handed his client's file. "This was the first visit to Mansour Osanlou by his lawyer, 34 days after his detention," Mowlai told the Associated Press. He said Osanlou was not complaining about mistreatment by prison authorities. "But he showed me some traces of wounds and bruises on his legs," he said, stating Osanlou said these were received during his clash with security agents when he was arrested. "His family members have not been permitted to meet him, yet," he said.
