Iran hangs 13 persons convicted of murder, drug charges

Iran executed by hanging 12 men and one woman convicted of murder and drug smuggling, an official newspaper reported Thursday. The report by the IRAN daily said the eight were hanged in the notorious Evin Prison in northern Teheran on Wednesday. The eight, including a serial killer who was convicted of murdering three housewives, and the woman were identified by their first names only. The woman, identified as Raheleh, was convicted of having killed her husband after she discovered he was unfaithful to her, the paper said.
