"Iran doesn't have the right to set off a nuclear arms race in the Middle East," British Foreign Secretary David Milliband was quoted as saying Monday morning.
In an interview with the British Financial Times newspaper, Milliband said that Britain would press ahead with a third United Nations resolution that tightened sanctions against Iran if it continues to refuse to suspend uranium enrichment, adding that "we think it's very, very important that the international community remains clear and united on this issue."
While refusing to adopt the stance of one of his predecessors, Jack Straw, that military action against Iran was "inconceivable," the British foreign secretary said he believed the whole of the international community "wants a non-military, diplomatic solution to this problem."
