Iran's chief nuclear negotiator reiterated Wednesday that Teheran is open to discussing concerns over its nuclear program, but will not agree to preconditions for the negotiations, Iranian state television reported.
Ali Larijani's comments were a rejection of the UN Security Council's demand that Teheran suspend uranium enrichment before any talks begin.
"Any proposal is acceptable should it be effective for reaching compromise, understanding and removal of concerns of both sides," state television quoted Larijani as saying after meeting Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta.
While Larijani did not specifically mention the issue of uranium enrichment, he rejected the concept of setting preconditions on any negotiation for fear that they would automatically become part of the discussion's result.
