Iran rejects US claim that it supplies weapons to Iraq militias

Iran is rejecting US claims that Tehran provides money and weapons to Shi'ite Muslim militias in Iraq. The top American military commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, told the US Congress on Tuesday that Iran funds, equips and trains Shi'ite militiamen who have attacked US and Iraqi forces. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said Wednesday that the US has "no correct understanding of facts." He accused Petraeus of trying to blame America's own Iraq failures on Iran.
