Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was in Berlin on Saturday for talks with his German counterpart amid hopes Teheran will respond soon to a package of incentives offered in effort to resolve a standoff over its nuclear program.
Heading in to the talks, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier's spokesman said he was hopeful that Mottaki may give a better indication of when Iran may provide an answer to the offer. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said his country would take until mid-August to respond to the proposal by six nations, including the United States and Germany.
"Perhaps we will hear from the Iranian side on this occasion a more exact specification of when it plans to react to this offer," spokesman Martin Jaeger said.
