Iranian foreign minister to visit Berlin

Iran's foreign minister will travel to Berlin this weekend to meet his counterpart from Germany, a key player in efforts to resolve the standoff over his country's nuclear program, a German official said Wednesday. Iran's Manouchehr Mottaki and Germany's Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet Saturday to discuss "questions of mutual and international interest," Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger said. He did not elaborate. On Wednesday, Mottaki was expected in Italy for talks on a package of incentives, drawn up by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, aimed at defusing the nuclear issue.
