Iran's education minister resigned, the fifth change in President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's cabinet since 2005, state radio reported on Sunday.
The report did not elaborate on the reason for Mahmoud Farshidi's resignation, however there have been several protests by teachers in Iran over the past few years demanding higher wages, most recently in March.
A news Web site, Alef, close to influential conservative lawmaker Ahmad Tavakkoli, said that the resignation came in response to Ahmadinejad's request.
The state radio report said Ahmadinejad accepted Farshidi's resignation and thanked him for his service during a cabinet meeting Sunday.
