Japan's Cabinet on Friday approved sanctions against Iran's nuclear program under UN Security Council guidelines, a government spokesman said.
The measures include stopping the transfer of funds contributing to Iranian nuclear activities and missile development, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki said.
"It is necessary to take a firm response in consideration of the maintenance of the nonproliferation regime," Shiozaki told reporters.
