A former Iranian government official has claimed that the family of missing Iranian general Ali Rez Asghari, who disappeared during a trip to Turkey last month, is still in Teheran, contrary to previous media reports, it was reported overnight Sunday.
The official, a friend of Asghari's, told the Financial Times that the Iranian leadership was at odds over the missing general's whereabouts.
According to Israel Radio, the official also wondered how, if Asghari was indeed considered a valuable source of information for Israel and the US, both countries made sure the story was broadcast in the media.
